Bryan E. Reynolds, Executive Officer, President and Founder

After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Medical Laboratory Tech, Bryan retired to pursue his passion of nature photography full time.  He delighted in the challenge of photographically capturing beautiful subjects especially butterflies.  After visiting many public lands and collaborating with many experts in the field of butterfly study, he realized how quickly some species were disappearing directly as the result of human activity.  He then felt the need to inform the public, especially younger people, about the perils of butterflies and how it directly affects all of us.  And thus he founded The Butterflies of the World Foundation (BOTWF).  The BOTWF was formed on 27 April 2007 and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status was granted on 15 September 2009.  With it he hopes to share his personal experiences about butterflies and what each person can do in their day-to-day activities to help these winged wonders.  Bryan is an accomplished speaker and presenter and his passion for butterflies and their conservation comes through enthusiastically during his programs.  In 2011 alone he gave 28 presentations and his work has now taken him to 13 states.  Besides butterflies, Bryan photographs all aspects of nature and wildlife and his photography website can be viewed here.  Bryan’s list of editorial clients is extensive and includes publications of the National Geographic Society, The Smithsonian Institution, The Nature Conservancy, the Xerces Society, the American Arachnological Society and many books, post cards, calendars, nature center/museum displays and magazines such as Outdoor Photographer, Discover, Nature Photographer, Highlights for Children, Photo Techniques, Birds and Blooms and many more.  His complete editorial list can be found here.  He is a member of the Lepidopterists Society, the Xerces Society and the American Arachnological Society.
